Dear GTC ONS Members,

I hope each of you is having a good year. The summer is already here with lots of transformation and change. We, too, have rhythms and seasons of transformation in our lives. As nurses, we care for others with compassion devoting our time to their wellbeing. I commend you all to take time and invest in yourself. Investing in your self is an act of self-love. Caring for oneself is necessary to have the energy to care for others compassionately.

Our annual conference on April 7th was a total success. Once again we received very positive feedback from participants. Attending educational programs and professional networking events are fundamental to maintain knowledge of current practices, achieve awareness of different roles, and renew your commitment to learning and education. We continue to work to provide meaningful educational opportunities, and we will work diligently to organize another exciting conference next year.

If you are thinking about certification, make this be the year! Becoming certified in a nursing specialty validates practice and enhances patient safety. If you are already certified, consider becoming a mentor to one of your colleagues. Supporting and inspiring our fellow nurses will help them change and grow. So identify that person, encourage them to perform to their highest ability, celebrate their victories, and help them reach their full potential.

Once again, I would like to encourage all of you to get involved in the chapter activities, either as a board member, committee member or on a specific project. Chapter engagement can be very valuable to you and your profession. If you are in interested in being more active in the chapter activities, please contact me or reach out to one of our board members for more information.

Please make sure to check the website and check out the calendar, announcements, and do not forget to keep your membership profile up to date. You can check your ONS profile by clicking on My Profile in the upper right corner of this screen.

Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve you as your President.
